Reflecting on Our First Season Together with Widzew Łódź
Turning Coaching into Measurable Development
The 2025/26 season marked the first season of collaboration between Coach Intelligence Lab and Polish Ekstraklasa club Widzew Łódź. Together, we supported coach development across every phase of the academy through objective, AI-powered coaching analysis.
Throughout the season, we analysed 45+ training sessions, providing coaches with objective insights into their coaching behaviours, learning environments and player engagement.
Key Findings
The analysis showed that Widzew Łódź’s coaching behaviours are closely aligned with our European benchmark, demonstrating a coaching culture that is highly positive, player-centred and comparable with many leading European academies. Coaches consistently adapted their behaviours across the different development phases while maintaining a strong learning environment.
The data also identified targeted opportunities for further growth, including increasing ball rolling time in the Foundation Phase and further improving the specificity of coaching interventions in the Professional Phase to maximise tactical learning and decision-making.
Creating Better Learning Environments
At Coach Intelligence Lab, we believe that better coaching creates better players. By providing objective insights into everyday coaching behaviours, we helped Widzew Łódź further strengthen the quality of its learning environments, giving coaches the evidence to make small improvements that can have a significant impact on player development.
Together, we are building a culture where coach development drives the long-term development of talented young footballers.
